Export regions

This cargo includes linen and woollen cloth, fabrics with different fibres, textures and uses. Flax and hemp produce woven cloth for shirts and household linen; wool supplies heavier fabrics as well as finer woven goods.

The fibres have been prepared and spun before weaving, and some pieces have received further finishing. Tailors and households judge each length by its feel, thickness and suppleness. A merchant may sell from one cargo to several trades, each looking for a different kind of fabric.
